Description:
Photographed identified from a related image held in the collection of the State Library of NSW. At the time this album was compiled Bentham was occupied by Albert Glaze Cureton and his family. Photographs from this album were first published in the June 1918 issue of the magazine "Properties & Premises" a monthly publication of the auctioneers Hardie & Gorman. The property was first offered for private sale in June 1918 and then at public auction in September 1918.
In November 1920, following the sale of the property, the 'complete household appointments and effects contained in the residence' were sold at auction by James R. Lawson. This photograph was reproduced in the auction catalogue and objects itemised in the list for the hall included a statuary marble bust of "Innocence"; 2 Colebrookdale panels on ebonized frames, a snipe and a pheasant; an Empire palm stand, in walnut, with ormolu mounts and marble top; a swiss 8-day chiming hall clock in English oak case of Gothic design; a Royal Doulton faience pedestal; a mounted stag's head; and a large number of oil paintings and water-colour drawings.
