Description:
Robert Dick, physician, was born in 1869 at Windsor, New South Wales. He was educated at Windsor public school and the Cooerwell Academy, Bowenfels, and at the universities of Sydney, London and Cambridge. He served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the First World War. From 1924-1934 he held the position of Directior-General of Public Health for New South Wales. While a student at St Andrew's College, University of Sydney, Robert and his brother James became friends with James Thomas (Tom) Thorburn and in the 1890s they were regular visitors to Meroogal, the McKenzie/Thornburn family home in Nowra. Robert, known as Bert, was a lifelong friend of Tom Thorburn's youngest sister Kennina (Tottie) Thorburn.
