The cottage was built for the widow of Lieutenant Henley in Upper Spit Road, Quakers Hat and was designed by the architectural firm Morrow and De Putron. William De Putron was Vice President of the Voluntary Workers Association.

Miss Olive Mabel Bridgwater (1890-1971) and Miss Doris Gwendoline Bridgwater (1895-1976) of the Sydney suburb of Mosman, N.S.W.
