After living in Rome for over 40 years, Australian artist Janet Venn-Brown returned to Sydney in 2010. Soon after, she donated five of her Clyde Bank paintings to the Caroline Simpson Library and Research Collection.
Caroline Simpson originally commissioned these pictures, depicting the interiors of her museum, Clyde Bank, in 1999. The paintings capture in detail the objects displayed in each room, as well as the interior architecture of one of Sydney's early historic buildings.

The five Clyde Bank pictures were included in an exhibition titled "An inside view - paintings by Janet Venn-Brown", held in the Members' Lounge at The Mint, Macquarie Street, Sydney from 31st January to 25th March 2011.
