Description:
The photographer Marcus Adams was an English society photographer who specialised in portraits of children. He is remembered today as a royal photographer taking, in 1926, the first official portrait of the infant Princess Elizabeth (future Queen Elizabeth II) with her mother the then Duchess of York. In April 1940 Adams took a photograph of the young Princess dressed in a kilt and standing against a background reminiscent of a Scottish landscape.
