Dated from reference in Sydney Evening News 7 October 1871 p.3 to a series of stereoscopic views on sale at J.R. Clarke's, Hunter Street, including six views "from the military road above Athol Gardens, North Shore, comprehending the harbour from Watson's Bay to St. Leonards'. Other stereographs by Brodie carry J. R. Clarke labels.
