This image is one of a
collection of photographs of The Rocks and Circular Quay dating from approximately 1950-1970. On the side of the building is a sign indicating that the side street is Essex Street which pedens are accessing via a set of stairs. Today the stairs still exist but the fence on the left of the picture has been removed and Essex Street has been extended to cross Gloucestor Street. One concrete pillar with its spherical top ornament still remains. At the top of the photo an advertising mural for Bushell's tea can be seen. The wall on which it is painted belongs to the
Bushells Building which fronts Harrington Street. A small section of the Gloucester Street wall can be seen on the right of the image. The slide is date stamped “JAN71” which probably refers to the processing date.
