This carte-de-visite is one item within a small album containing photographs of members of the extended Rouse and Terry families. Richard Rouse (1843-1906) was the third child and eldest son of George Rouse (1816-1888) and his wife Elizabeth Moore (1820-1863) of Mudgee, New South Wales, and was a grandson of Richard and Elizabeth Rouse of Rouse Hill in the Parramatta district of New South Wales. In 1869 he married Mary Helena Minnie Lowe. The family lived at at Biraganbil near Gulgong in country New South Wales.
