Inscription:
Unsigned. Undated. Old label pasted on the back says: "Dan Cooper's house Sydney Harbour". A later, typewritten, label beneath says:"This is not Captain Piper's Henrietta Villa later purchased by Daniel Coper but Alex Macleay's residence Elizabeth Bay House built ca.1835. The view is similar to a Conrad Martens watercolour in the Mitchell Library done in 1838 and possibly predates it".

The painting has been attributed to George Edwards Peacock, after comparison with signed works in the Mitchell Library, State Library of New South Wales.
