Description:
This image is one of a collection of photographs of The Rocks and Circular Quay dating from approximately 1950-1970. In the foreground can be seen a row of terraces, a warehouse and the rooftops of the surrounding area. In the midground to the right the Maritime Services Board Building, now the Museum of Contemporary Art, can be clearly seen and Circular Quay railway station is under construction. Also of significance is the Farmers and Graziers Building, formerly Mort's Wool Stores (demolished 1959) on the site of the AMP Building. The dome of the Chief Secretary’s building is prominent on the ridge with the Astor apartments and BMA building to its right on Macquarie Street. Ferries entering or leaving the quay include the Kalang and either the Curl Curl or Dee Why-class ferry.
