Description:
Part of an archive of forensic photography created between 1912 and 1964. This image is one of a series of 7 negatives and 1 photographic print.
The policeman on point duty in the centre of this photograph may be present in response to a traffic accident, with pedestrians crossing the street between a car at the intersection and a tram stopped in Castlereagh Street opposite the Bognor Hotel at 249 Castlereagh Street. The Willard Service Station at 247 Castlereagh Street is visible next to the Bognor Hotel. The Liverpool-Castlereagh Street corner is occupied by Fostars Shoes with their shop windows promoting 'Fostars Xmas Offer" including a 'Xmas slipper sale' and 'holiday shoes'.
