Description:
This view of the Victoria Club in 1871 is taken looking south along the east side of Castereagh Street, a few doors down from the intersection with Hunter Street. The building was erected in 1829 as a private residence for T G Pitman. It became the Victoria Club around 1862 and then, from around 1872 until 1888, it was the Audit Office. It was demolished for commercial premises in the late 1880s.
The single-story building partially in view on the left of the photograph is the Volunteer Club.
